Poetry therapy is a powerful therapeutic tool for the counselling room and for self-development. In my work, Poetry therapy has been a proven method of helping people find and express their inner lives in a safe and supportive environment. It is a valuable self-development tool that has been useful in 1-1, couples work, and group work.

David had presented the features and benefits of Poetry Therapy at ‘Let the Voices Be Heard!’ An International Conversation on Counselling, Psychotherapy and Social Justice, a conference jointly planned by the American Counseling Association (ACA), the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP).
